Abstract
A model-based Dynamic Programming (DP) matching method is applied to extract heart shape from each static frame in a sequence of echocardiagrams. The method derives an optimum match by allowing for a certain amount of change of length of each side of the model polygon. General discussion of the problem is followed by development of particular constraints which involve integration and differentiation along the time axis. A temporal continuity condition is also considered. Specific knowledge pertaining to the object such as the periodic nature and restricted location of heart movement is also included in the matching process. Experimental results are reported.
